Our program is designed to encourage children to excel to the best of their abilities in a fun, positive atmosphere. We introduce concepts of respect, discipline, focus and control through the sport and art of Shotokan Karate. Our classes are geared to increase balance, strength, flexibility, and co-ordination. All classes are taught by qualified and caring black belt instructors who will help your child learn to set goals and achieve them with confidence.
Your first uniform is on us!! A question we receive from a lot of families is “What if the program just isn’t for my child, and then we’ve spent money on a uniform that we can’t use?” We’re certain that your child will absolutely love our program, and excel at it! We want your experience with us to be as enjoyable and risk free as possible. So, your first uniform is on us!
Families will be required to pay for additional uniforms in the future. Dates and pricing to be advised.
New students are welcome to wear a comfortable t-shirt, with a pair of leggings or track pants and bare feet until such time as their Martial Arts uniform arrives.
There are additional fees for belt grading and our safe sparring package. Please contact our main office via email or telephone for further details – firstname.lastname@example.org, 905-690-9022. If a student is new to our program we will take the first two weeks to have our instructor assess him/her and make sure the student is in the appropriate class before ordering uniforms.
Belt Grading will take place up to 2 times per year at the Sensei’s discretion, dates to be advised.
Safe Sparring packages are ordered based on a student’s age and skill level. Dates and total to be advised.
Sparring is the heart and soul of practicing Karate. It is the one thing that absolutely needs to be done in order for a Martial Artist to improve. You can practice katas, drill for hours, or work the pads, but if you don’t spar, then you won’t get better, plain and simple! Sparring is an opportunity to really use what you've learned and the only solid way to mark your progress.
- The purpose of sparring is to make both you and your partner better. You should be trying to work and flow with one another, while at the same time developing better reaction time and enhancing your skills. Remember, sparring is not fighting.
- For sanitary purposes, each martial artist is required to have their own set of sparring gear
- What's included in our Safe Sparring package? Helmet, mouth guard, shin guards, sparring gloves and boots, protective cup, bag for all your gear!
