ONCE IN A LIFE TIME CAMP DELIVERS THRILLS IN WATERDOWN THIS SUMMER!

Live Dream Dance Performing Arts Studio Inc. held their annual Advanced Dance Intensive Camp, August 15-19th, 2011. The was geared toward the Competitive Dance Team but, anyone with love for dance who wanted to learn and grow was permitted to attend. The camp, put on by owner Sarah Sordoni, was a once in a lifetime experience for many of these young dancers. The camp included and all-star line-up of teachers and choreographers who are at the top of their game in the professional dance industry. Classes were taught in all styles of dance beginning with the LDD Faculty, Sarah Sordoni, Kristy Baggetta and Tara Ulrich. The students were then treated to a hip hop workshop by Mariano Abarca, one of Toronto's finest hip hop dancers and instructors. He will be joining the exciting Faculty at LDD in the Fall. He taught the dancers "house styles", "popping and locking", among other hip hop styles and captivated the dancers with his charm and wit in class. Other Highlights included an advanced Jazz and Lyrical workshop with SYTYCD Canada finalist, Bree Wasylenko. Bree was part of the top 20 in Season 3. Bree was very impresssed with the calibre of dance from these young dancers at LDD. She pushed the dancers in an exciting and hard-hitting Contemporary number.

Shawn Byfield, one of Canada's premiere tap instructors wowed the dancers with his moves and put on an entertaining funky tap class that is like no other in this area. He had the dancers busting a move and "letting their hair down" in an amazing tap workshop.

The most exciting part of the week was having Tara Jean Popowich, winnner of SYTYCD Canada Season 2 in at LDD to teach a series of Advanced Jazz and Contemporary Technique and Performance classes. Tara Jean's words and choreography were inspirational to the dancers here at LDD. It was evident to us why she was crowned the winner of the Canadian version of the show. She pushed the dancers to feel the music and emote in ways that they did not know were possible. She inspired the girls to tears in their last class with her. TJ's inspiration to these dancers will forever live on in them and will continue to help them reach even newer heights this Fall as LDD embarks on a new and successful Competitive Dance Season. TJ was highly impressed with the skill level of these young dancers and said she cannot wait to return next summer. We were very fortunate to be able to have such talent in a team of guest teachers who collaborated at Live Dream Dance to celebrate dance in Waterdown this summer!
